INSTALLATION AT HINTERCONTI, HAMBURG 2024

Very, very bright light falls into the room. This brightness reflects and mirrors. The objects and images in the room are therefore not fully recognizable, they are superimposed. In some areas you are deceived. It is not the real context that is reflected on the object, the context is faked, it is contained in the image. The space mixes with the simulated space. The space is there twice. It is also doubled by the large mirror that is inserted into the only window in the room. As a result, there are two rooms, two images. There are copies, imprints, things and objects in the room that are not really there. The space is undermined, the objects are dissected, doubled, erased, obscured by context.

The hinterconti is a project space in Hamburg. One room was used by Barbara Deveny, the other by me. The only window in the room was replaced by a mirror. The artificial light in the room was intensified. The images were mirrored and superimposed several times. The installation thematizes today's perception. Every appearance is digitally mirrored and refracted x-fold, all non-digital entities explode in the digital world. The fragmented data dust leads to overstimulation. The global village, once a vision in which everyone can communicate directly with each other, is dazzled and overwhelmed, contexts without content, content without context, delusional dazzle, many ghosts.
